Broadband is a high-speed Internet connection that provides a large bandwidth. It has a quick type of connection and can transmit data at a much faster rate than dial-up. Broadband does not tie up your phone line, it simply means you can use the Internet and telephone at the same time. Broadband can be provided from a variety of sources, including over the top of your phone line. It is called ADSL. There are several kinds of broadband.
- Dial up with 56kbps
- Mid band with 64 or 128kbps
- Standard broadband with 512kbps, 1mbps, 1.5mbps, 2.2mbps.
There are other ISP providers that offer 4 and 8mbps.
Broadband is growing in popularity because a lot of ISPs are offering them at affordable rates.
